Millions of years ago a large mass of land ruled the Eastern side of the Earth, called Pangea. All continents of today were apart of one another with no boundaries. No separation. No wars. Conflict among groups of life, ultimately did not exist. However, conflict within did. Creatures of myth roamed the Earth, creating their own circle of life alongside the beginnings of humans and beings of magic that lived on a continent known as Altantis.
Atlantians lived peacefully alongside the other creatures of the Earth, but considered themselves the rulers of their planet due to their advanced technology, magic and sophistication. But they were not greedy. They watched over the humans ending conflict and helping solve their problems. They would not, however, lend their magic to the humans. This displeased humans. The Atlantians believed in their hands, they would only destroy themselves because of their lack of knowledge on how to use the magic and their greed and determination to have power and control. They agreed that once the race of humans flourioushed mentally, they would share the magic.
The humans, however, did not believe in this and outraged, they decided to take matters into their own hands and steal the magic. They sent severals fake messages of urgency to the King of Atlantis requesting his services immediately due to an outbreak in disease. The King, not wanting catch the disease himself and bring it to his own people, created a replica of himself and sent it along with his soldiers to aid the humans.
Meanwhile, a group of soldiers had disguised themselves among the Atlantians and broke into the King's Kingdom, finding what they had least expected. The King was still there, smiling as they entered and seemingly waiting for them. He told them of how impressed he was that they had been able to outsmart him and that he would be honored to bestow them with the powers that the people of Atlantis held so dearly.
Leading the humans to the room of power, the King warned them that there was still a possibility of the magic destroying them. The humans hastily disagreed. However, as soon as the King transfered the power to them they started going mad, the magic feeding off every last bit of energy they had. One human though, seeming to pull together a few bits of sanity to create a new plan, launched himself into the light of where the magic was coming from, disrupting the flow.
Chaos erupted outside as earthquakes started violently shaking Atlantis and breaking it off of the rest of Pangea. The King, sacrificing his life, absorbed his body in magic and used every ounce of his life to protect is people as it seemingly plunged underwater and disappeared only to reappear a million years later in the Atlantic Ocean.
The flow of magic in Atlantis was restored, but the Kings protection remained, continueing to hide Atlantis from the rest of the world. Though no one knew of the continents existence, Atlantians closely followed the humans not daring to get involved with them once again. As the continent once again started flourishing in the natural light, families start moving out to live among the humans, their powers being passed down from generation to generation or getting lost in time and found by a distant relative down the line. Still, magic was kept from the humans and those who use it among the humans today know each other as Supernaturals.
